US Model 1873 Trapdoor Carbine (So-Called Model 1879 Variant)

  • Price: $1,895.00
  • Maker: Spfld
  • Model: Trapdoor
  • Caliber: .45-70

  • Description: Serial #111196, .45-70, 22 barrel with a very good bore that has some freckling within the grooves. This is a great looking original carbine that has an overall mottled pewter gray patina that was lightly cleaned in the past but still has sharp edges and crisp, clear markings. There are scattered spots of pinprick pitting on the bronze firing pin-equipped breechblock which has some muted original case-hardening on the underside. The lock has thin pinprick pitting as well, and the trigger guard and barrel band have a mostly plum-brown patina. The walnut stock has numerous small handling marks and minor blemishes under an added military oil finish that has left the cartouche indistinct and no longer visible. The stock compartment contains the original segmented cleaning rod and stuck case extractor. This is a fine original Trapdoor carbine overall that has tight mechanics, a handsome, Wild West look, and would make a great decorative accent piece or addition to any collection. Antique
