Tranter Model 1868 Solid-Frame DA Revolver by Stephen Grant

  • Maker: Tranter
  • Model: 1868
  • Caliber: .320

  • Description: Serial #9556, .320 CF, 3 3/4 inch octagon barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a very handsome, early ejector rod revolver that retains 85-90% of the original bright blue finish along the engraved barrel, with 60-70% of the original bright fire blue on the hammer. trigger, and retention springs. The cylinder has a mostly bright patina, but retains traces of the original gold wash on the rear face, and within the engraved portions. The engraved brass frame retains about 40-50% of the original gilt finish, which blends smoothly into an overall dull yellow-ochre patina. There is a clear Tranter football marking on the right side, and the gun is retailer marked on the top of the barrel: S. GRANT 69 ST. JAMES ST., LONDON. The checkered walnut grip has a few very small handling marks and blemishes scattered about, but the checkering points are still sharp. The action lock-up is still tight, and the mechanism is fully functional. This is a beautiful example of a Tranter solid frame .320, sold by one of the legendary British marques, and would make a fantastic addition to any collection. Antique
