Colt New Service .455 Revolver Converted to .45 Colt (British Proofed)

  • Maker: Colt
  • Model: New Service
  • Caliber: .45 Colt

  • Description: Serial #89411, .45 Colt, 5 1/2 barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a 1915-made revolver that has retained 75-80% of the original bright commercial blue finish with freckling and gray fading along the barrel, frame, and between the cylinder flutes, while the gripstraps have turned pewter gray with plum-brown freckling. The Colt hard rubber grips are in very good shape with only scattered handling marks and small blemishes, as well as a single chip missing from the butt on the left panel. Crisp London proofs are present on the barrel, frame, and cylinder, but no British government stamps are present. The lock-up is tight and the action functions flawlessly in both double and single action. Given the date of manufacture, this was undoubtedly bought as a private purchase revolver for war use, and would make a great addition to a collection. FFL or C&R
