Cased Tranter Model 1868 Solid-Frame Engraved Revolver

  • Maker: Tranter
  • Model: 1868
  • Caliber: .450

  • Description: Serial #54410, .450 CF, 3 octagon barrel with a very good, bright bore that has spots of mild freckling along its length. This is a handsome revolver that retains 80-85% of a maker re-applied bright nickel finish with the balance flaked to smooth, pewter gray, mostly along the exterior of the cylinder, as well as spots of dark freckling at the muzzle and cylinder face. The ejector rod housing has a clear TRANTER'S PATENT marking on the swivel arm, the frame has the usual Tranter football marking on the right side, and extensive floral scrollwork throughout. The checkered walnut grip has small extremely fine checkering, and is in fine shape with some small handling marks and blemishes scattered about, some flattening of the checkering points, and a small chip missing from the right side where it meets the frontstrap. The action lock-up is still tight, and the mechanism is fully functional. The revolver is housed in a period burled walnut case with re-lined navy blue baize lining, turn-screw, cleaning rod, pewter oil bottle, and key. This is a handsome, embellished Tranter, that rates very good-near fine condition overall. Antique
