Item #37059

British War Office Miniature Training Rifle by BSA

  • Maker: BSA
  • Model: Martini
  • Caliber: .22

  • Description: Serial #5345, .22 LR, 23 3/4 barrel with a very good bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves. This is a rare single-shot training rifle, built along military lines, and marked on the top of the barrel breech: MIN. RIFLE (Crown) W.O. PATT., and MADE BY / THE BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS Co. Ltd. / BIRMINGHAM / CARTRIDGE .220 LONG RIFLE. The metal retains 80-85% of the original blue finish with some silvering along the high edges and projections, and scattered spots of mild surface freckling throughout. The bolt has a mottled pewter gray and brown patina with some traces of original fire blue on the extractor. The rifle is fitted with a non-original sporting style front sight, and a miniature version of the SMLE rear sight, complete with wings. The walnut stock has numerous small handling marks scattered about the original varnish, as well as a crisp original (Stacked rifles) trademark stamp on the left side of the buttstock. This is a very nice example of a very rare British military training rifle, and would make a great addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
